Motivation is perhaps the greatest intangible force that drives us towards our goals. As outlined by Maslow’s Need- Hierarchy theory, there’s a pyramid shaped need structure that may be categorized into 5 different kinds of needs. From bottom to top, these needs are physiological needs, safety needs, love or belonging needs, self-assurance needs and self-actualization needs. Only following the needs on the preceding category are fulfilled, someone moves up the pyramid ladder as well as needs of the subsequent category are realized. The main 3 categories constitute the hygiene factors as you move remaining two constitute the motivational factors. What sets man aside from other living beings is the fact that it might be the sole specie that truly has needs beyond the hygiene factors. This clearly shows the type of motivation.
