Global Immigration Services and Options for Skilled Indians

With the challenges facing the global economy, many developed countries which had liberal immigration policies had to control their immigration numbers to protect the domestic workforce against rising unemployment. While some countries for example UK shut down programs for attracting skilled migrants from abroad, others made it very restrictive and selective.
Highly educated and qualified Indians, who are keen on settling abroad, still have a number of programs to choose from. Some of the key programs are discussed here.

As per the recent changes, the applicant needs to score 65 points based on criteria such as age, language skill, work experience and education to apply to become a permanent resident. The successful applicant and immediate family are free to live and work anywhere in Australia and eligible to apply for citizenship after three years.
CANADA FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER
Canada Federal Skilled Worker migration program is a permanent visa which enables migrants in certain selected occupations where Canada is experiencing a skill shortage to move and settle in Canada. After three years of residence in Canada, the applicant is eligible to apply for Canadian passport and citizenship.
DENMARK GREEN CARD SCHEME
The Danish green card scheme allows the applicant to live and work in Denmark if the applicant can attain at least 100 points. Points are given for: educational level, language skills, work experience, adaptability, and age. The applicant is granted a first-time residence permit under the green card scheme for up to 3 years. Before the end of this period, he or she can apply for an extension of up to 1 year. Before the end of this period, the migrant can apply for an extension of up to four years. The applicant is allowed to bring immediate family along on this visa.
HONGKONG QUALITY MIGRANT ADMISSION SCHEME
The quality migrant admission scheme is a point based immigration system introduced by the Hong Kong government to attract highly skilled professionals to come and work in Hong Kong. Professionals with rich experience and good academic background who can attain 80 points based on criteria such as age, language skill, work experience, education and family background can easily apply for a 1 year entry visa to Hong Kong. This visa is extendable provided the immigrant can find gainful employment in the specified period.
Conclusion
Though the global recession has had a negative impact on global mobility of professionals but it is expected, that with the economic climate becoming stable in the near future the demand for foreign skilled migrants would go up and developed nations would need to relax their immigration policies.
