Fleas and Pocket Pets
Small pets like hamsters, gerbils, rats, and sometimes rabbits and ferrets are often referred to as “pocket pets” because of their small size. These pets can also be affected by fleas the same way that cats and dogs. Even though pocket pets usually live in cages if they spend any time roaming around the house or a child’s bedroom floor or bed they can be exposed to fleas if there are any in the house. So if you have a cat or a dog and your children have pocket pets as well if you develop a flea problem you have to make sure that you treat the pocket pets for fleas just like you treat the other pets for fleas.
